I have been immensely grateful to work with a variety of non-profit organizations and small businesses to help passionate visionaries and entrepreneurs
uncover their WHY, find their VOICE and brand their BLISS.
Here are some projects that lit me up from the inside, and let them shine on the outside.
The Pacific Institute for Sports Excellence (PISE) is a non-profit organization dedicated to inspiring fitness and physical literacy for the Victoria community, and improving performance for competitive athletes. PISE counts Canadian Olympic level athletes and teams including Men’s Rowing and Women’s Rugby among their clientele, as well as kids with special needs and their families, plus the wider community. In addition to teaching yoga at PISE, I also contribute to their blog, telling the incredible stories of their individual clients.
The Living Without Disguises Project, a non-profit organization, was founded by adventurer and philanthropist Dale Dunham. Following the shooting at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, FL in 2016, Dale was devastated that 49 LGBTQ+ souls would never have the chance again to raise their voices. He created the LWD Project to connect the global LGBTQ+ community so that each individual would have an opportunity to tell their stories of courage and authenticity. I joined the LWD Project as Dale’s editor and helped to craft the content for the Project’s website. I am proud to be a part of this ground-breaking passion project.
Cara Calibaba, founder of Enlight10, is a fellow yoga and meditation teacher who specializes in offering accessible classes for kids, seniors, and people with disabilities. She also trains educators to bring mindfulness techniques into their classrooms and offers an annual scholarship to help educators access workshops. It was an honour to help Cara distinguish her offerings in our local yoga community, and clarify her professional purpose and intentions. In addition to streamlining content for her Services and About Me pages on her website, I mentor Cara in goal-setting, business planning, scheduling and time management.
Enso Learning was founded by health-care leader turned executive coach, Dori Howard. From her intimate beach-front property on Saltspring Island, BC, Dori hosts team & leadership development workshops, health & life transition coaching retreats, and yoga & meditation retreats. She also works onsite with leaders and professionals in their own environments. I was honoured to work with Dori from the original reinvention of her brand and website. Graphic and web design was helmed by the talented Jenna Vaandering, while I worked closely with Dori to establish the authentic voice of her new brand, as exemplified throughout the content on her website.
Marcia Kirby is an exceptional physiotherapist who helps me to stay strong and mobile. When she asked me to help her rebrand, I didn’t hesitate. We renamed her busy clinic, located at Saanich Commonwealth Pool, UpLevel Physiotherapy. With the masterful talents of Ben Johnstone of Moa Media, we created a new logo and website. BK Studios Photographers brought Marcia’s business to life, and I contributed the written content.
Valerie Westra, owner of At First Sight Home Staging Solutions, is a dedicated community supporter and professional home stager in Victoria, BC. I helped Valerie define what makes her approach to home staging unique, and contributed new website content for her site’s redesign by Kelly and Erin at Seriously Creative.
Maria Miller is a talented photographer who captures the wild west coast through her intuitive lens. I worked with the Freebird Collective to completely transform Maria’s brand, including a new logo, website, photography and brand strategy. I helped Maria tell her story, and crafted her website content.
I was a founding member of the Freebird Collective, a collaborative group of freelance branding specialists. I contributed the copywriting for the website and marketing materials. I continue to participate in Freebird projects as a copywriter and educator.
Josée Lalonde is a talented interior designer in Victoria, BC. I worked closely with Josée to develop project management systems, to generate sales and to develop and implement marketing strategies for her design business as well as for her other project, The HOUSSE, a furniture rental business for home stagers and event planners. For her website, I helped to completely rebrand her business, crafting her tagline, brand story and website copy.
Julie Atkinson, owner of New Look New Life Consulting, is a motivational speaker, workshop leader and cosmetic surgery consultant who is on a mission to help women witness their own inner beauty. I was privileged to help Julie define her unique offerings and tell her inspiring story. I crafted her website copy, and was a regular contributor to her blog.
Serial entrepreneur and local business ringleader Rebecca Kirstein is a force to be reckoned with. In addition to her role as Creative Director for BK Studios Photographers, she is also the Founder of the Freebird Collective and co-working spaces The Nest and The Landing Pad. She is a real estate investor, business advisor, and community collaborator. I helped Rebecca unify her many passions and solidify her personal brand story for her website.
I worked with Ben Johnstone of Moa Media to rebrand CREST – Columbia River Estuary Task Force, a non-profit organization dedicated to monitoring and preserving wildlife habitat in Astoria, Oregon. Ben reimagined a new logo and designed a custom website, while I worked with organization leaders to craft their story and write their content.
BK Studios‘ Rebecca Kirstein and Anna McKenzie were also founding members of the Freebird Collective. I helped these photographers to refine their brand story, and crafted new content for the redesign of their website by Boutique by Design. I have witnessed them at work many times, and I am always astounded with how fabulous they make their subjects look and feel.
Through Brand Brilliant, Kim Timothy and Niki Campbell are dedicated to assisting bootstrap-bound entrepreneurs to build and maintain their own WordPress websites. They conduct affordable website workshops with hands-on training and support. I worked with Kim and Niki, fellow Freebirds and owners of Boutique by Design, a graphic and web design company, to solidify their brand story.
In addition to small business owners and non-profits, I have also worked with larger organizations to tell their stories through annual reports, web copy, and marketing and promotional materials. Some of my clients include Connect Hearing, Island Savings, Greater Victoria Harbour Authority, and The Neal Estate Team.
